Softwood can also be durable!

Creosote oil is distilled from coal tar. By creosoting wood, the life span of softwood is extended by another 25 years. Environmentally speaking, creosoting is the least polluting of all the methods to preserve wood, and extend its life span, as creosote oil is biologically degradable.

Does De Sutter Naturally make a big difference!

De Sutter Naturally is synonymous with peerless quality! Creosoting is strictly performed by certified wood treatment enterprises. For all creosoted wood, De Sutter Naturally insists on a minimum of 125 kg of creosote oil per m3 of wood. Normal creosote treatments normally use only 90 kg. It is this extra 40% of creosote oil which makes all the difference in terms of longevity and durability when you buy De Sutter Naturally wood.

How is the wood impregnated?

After the wood has been placed inside the tank, the tank is suctioned empty till its vacuum. Next, the creosote oil is pressure-poured into the autoclave at a 125°C temperature where it sits for at least 1 hour. By conducting post-impregnation checks, we know exactly how much creosote oil has been absorbed by the wood. De Sutter Naturally sets high standards in this respect: 125kg per m3 is the absolute minimum!

Tropical wood doesn't need treatment.

Tropical hardwood from De Sutter Naturally is by nature so hard that it doesn't need any treatment. In the beginning the wood has a yellow brown colour, and after a few days, it takes on a darker brown appearance. One year later, the fencing will have a beautiful grey patina, just like wooden garden furniture.
