An important feature of wire mesh is the tightly stretched wire. This not only gives the fence an aesthetically pleasing appearance, but also provides necessary strength.
Professional installation
Correctly tightening wire mesh demands a lot of skill and experience. In addition to firmly securing the posts into the ground, the tension must be correct along the entire length.
Fixing the wire mesh to the vertical posts must allow sufficient clearance for expansion and contraction of the wire mesh due to varying temperatures. This means the wire mesh must possess the required elasticity.
Post diameter
By stretching the wire mesh, huge tensile forces are applied to the posts, with even more pressure on the corner posts. This makes it necessary to use posts of sufficient diameter.
If you choose planed round posts, then we recommend posts with a minimum diameter of 10 to 12 centimetres. Sawn square posts should best measure at least 10 by 10 centimetres.
If you choose pressure-treated pine posts, then you should go straight for 15 by 7.5 centimetres. Corner posts need to be 15 by 15 centimetres.
Enough room for staples
This thickness is not only necessary for absorbing large tensile forces. It is also important that the posts have sufficient surface area for the staples used to fix the wire mesh to the posts.
