Texture of a cracked tree stump
About wood
Wood is a natural product that travels a long way from tree to fence. After logging, it should first be thoroughly dried and then impregnated. Careful treatment of the wood during all the steps is the only way to assure a sustainable horse fence.

Verifying the source
A qualitative wooden fence is made of timber from the highest class for quality and durability. Choose a supplier who saws the timber himself in his own sawmill, so that you can check the quality criteria on the spot.
After the wood has been logged, time for thorough drying should be allowed. Wood that reaches just the right degree of drying will guarantee the longest durability for your pasture fence.

Air-dried
The drying process of tropical hardwood differs from that of pine softwood. Tropical wood is air-dried, a process that takes more than a year. A high-quality supplier will therefore invest in an extensive stock of hardwood, thus allowing the timber to dry out. This will ensure a stable and high-quality end product for you as a customer.

or in a drying oven
Our climate does not allow for pine softwood to dry in the open air. Therefore, the wood is ideally dried for 2 to 3 weeks in drying ovens until the moisture level has dropped to 22%. As a result, the pores of the wood are fully open and maximum impregnation can be guaranteed.
Wood that has been carelessly impregnated will begin to rot much faster. As an average person will not notice these differences in quality straight away, it is important to select a supplier who gives at least 20 years anti-rot warranty upon placing your pasture fence and has the necessary expertise and experience.

Finishing the posts and crossbars
The quality of a wooden horse fence is also determined by how the posts are finished. These must be sufficiently thick so that they can be firmly anchored in the ground.
At the same time - for the safety of your horse - it is important that the crossbars have exactly the right thickness.
And it speaks for itself that the ratio between pasture posts and crossbars must be just right, so that the fence looks beautiful, with a rural, refined appearance.
